Twenty five years ago today, my little sister was born. And while I can't say that it’s a day I remember (being two years old and all), it's a day that was the start of many memories to come. My sister is one of my best friends. She is someone I laugh with, cry with and love to share clothes with. She understands my fast talking (whenever she let's me get a word in), isn't shy to tell me the truth and constantly cracks me up. She's a Dairy Queen addict, can’t get enough of the colour purple and isn't ashamed to like "With You" by Jessica Simpson. She's the best and she knows it. For my birthday several years ago, my sister got me a sweet album full of quotes about sisters and photos of us growing up. One quote in particular seemed to describe us, and I’m sure many sisters, really well… “A sister can be seen as someone who is both ourselves and very much not ourselves - a special kind of double.” Even though we were asked if we were twins more than any other question growing up (I’m sorry LG, but we do look alike!), some things about us were so different that when we joked about her being from another planet, it sometimes didn't seem that far from the truth. Her loud, talkative never-say-no-to-a-party ways were often in contrast to my shyer, quiet, I'm-going-to-take-care-of-everybody qualities. But none of our differences have ever stopped us from being the best of friends. We were able to share a room for almost 20 years and have never run out of things to say. We have a long list of jokes and one-liners that wouldn’t seem funny to anyone but us. We’re each other’s biggest cheerleaders and much needed therapists. We probably know each other a little better than we know ourselves. So to my forever friend and little sister, happy birthday champ. I hope your day is full of Thai food, Timbits and some tequila without the lemon.
Do you have any siblings? Do you get along with your brothers and/or sisters?

What a great bday gift idea for a sister. I might have to steal that one.
What a wonderful tribute to your little sister, and a very happy birthday to her!
I have a younger brother, born 18 months after me, and I was raised with two other girls who are just like sisters to me-they're the most wonderful people on Earth to me, and I can't imagine being who I am today without them!
aw- what sweet words you wrote- happy bday to your little sis!
That was very sweet. I always wanted a sister, for the very reasons you mentioned (especially the "forever friend" part). Instead I got a stinky ol' brother:)
Happy Birthday Sister :)
I have two younger sisters and they drive me nuts, but I don't know what I'd do without them!
aw that's so sweet! i have siblings, but my family was pretty complicated growing up. i have a big brother i haven't seen or heard from since i was 4, another big brother i didn't meet until i was 11, and a big sister i did grow up with, but who's 10 years older than me. i am now getting to know my middle brother for the first time as adults. it's great to discover how much we have in common and how easily we can be friends, but he lives on the other side of the country, so it's slow going. my big sister taught me everything i needed to know about the 80's {she was a teenager and i was a kid through the 80's}, but because of our age difference we never became super close. i've always wondered what it would be like to have grown up with a sibling close to my age.
Happy Birthday to your sister, darling and this is such a sweet post! I have one brother who is 7 years older:) Kisses, darling
This is just beautiful =)

Its a blessing to have them!
I don't know what I would do with out my sisters. My older sister and I get asked ALL THE TIME if we are twins or not! :D
this is sweet :) and i grew up as an only child so i always wondered how'd it be like to have someone else there :)
i have a half-brother who's 5, and we get along, but it's totally different!

Aw, it sounds like you guys have a great relationship! I grew up as an only child.
What a sweet post! Your sister sounds amazing! :)
What a sweet post. I hope your sis gets to read this. I have a brother who is a year and a half younger than me. Growing up we used to hate each other, but during our teen years and to present we are the best of friends. Reading this post makes me miss my brother.
this really is the cutest post! :) and esp. so since i'm a twin so i understand that bond as me and marianne are the closest. I think it may be even more special that you guys are that close even though there was a little age difference and def. personality wise :) opposites attract, even in siblings.
my twin sister is half my heart and we're both really close to the rest of our four siblings-- pretty amazing that there's 6 children in my family, all of us different ages (our brother was going into the army the year before we started kindergarten!) now living in different parts of the world but we still remain the best of friends. That makes my heart full!
:)
