shop til you drop

I have a confession. This one isn’t as embarrassing as my love of watching The Real Housewives but I do feel like I’m in the minority when it comes to what I’m about to tell you. Are you ready? Here goes...I really don’t like shopping. I feel as though I should because I like fashion, furniture and getting new things and the satisfaction of a good purchase can be so rewarding, but put me in a mall and I’m usually ready to go home soon after I’ve arrived. With Black Friday sales and the crowds of Christmas shoppers making their way into the stores, I’m less and less inclined to go shopping, making it a very good thing that my Christmas shopping is almost done!
There’s several things that really turn me off about shopping. For one, I’m really bad at it. How is that possible, you ask? Well, I tend to look and look and look and end up with nothing! I am completely indecisive about spending my money that even if I find something I really like or really want, I usually need a second opinion. I need some convincing confirmation that somebody else thinks it’s a worthwhile purchase. And if there’s no one around to tell me I’m doing the right thing, then one of two things is bound to happen, the first being much more damaging than the second. It has happened to me so often that you’d think I’d learn...but I haven’t...yet. I’ll see something I want, look around for approval, not find the approval and decide to think about it as if giving it a good night’s sleep will give me more of a reason to purchase the product and plan to come back another day. What usually happens next is that I arrive back at the store, ready to pull out my credit card, only to find that they don’t have my size or they just sold out. I usually take it as a sign that I wanted it more than I needed it and I’m better off without it...but in reality, I’m crying a little inside and know I’ll be thinking about the item over and over in the days to come. The other shopping scenario that gets me if I’m alone is buyer’s remorse. There is something so terrible about overanalyzing a purchase, deciding to buy and then regretting it... and this happens to me more often that I’d like to admit. I am definitely guilty of making a purchase only to rethink it as soon as the shopping bag is in my hand....that is, until I get home to have someone tell me that shopping really isn’t such a bad thing and I, and the other people in my life, deserve pretty purchases every now and then. Add to these issues crazy crowds or not finding what I’m looking for and I am much happier to shop from the comfort of my computer. Another confession: I know I'm ridiculous!

Do you love to shop? Do you get buyer’s remorse?

I LOVE shopping but only when it's not crazy busy! I hate queuing for changing rooms/tills and I HATE mess!

I Love Shopping, but I am not a huge fan of big crowds. Weirdly though, I can´t really do online shopping, I always ask myself if it will fit properly, if the sizes are accurate, what if it is a cheap material I can´t see without touching it.... Drive myself crazy...

I'm with you - I dislike most that sales people are always asking to help me. I know they are doing their job but it drives me nuts! I'm also the mots indecisive person alive so I def relate:)

Whew! It's not just me! There's something rather unappealing about big crowds and malls, plus the disappointment of putting up with all that to find...nothing great (or nothing that's quite right)...happens to me all the time, so I hear ya!

ha ha, you sound like my boyfriend. he can never make the decision on the spot and inevitably wants to return another day to get it and i have to remind him that he should just get it now so that he doesn't have to go on another dreaded shopping trip.

i don't mind shopping but it doesn't excite me as much as it did years ago. i like having a purpose, knowing what i want and then buying it. wandering aimlessly with christmas crowds does not appeal!

I love shopping but I definitely not during this time of the year- it's too busy and finding parking is always a hassle. I use to buy whatever I like but some things just end up unused so I try to be more careful of what I do buy.

I would rather clean my bathrooms than go a mall - hate them. I don't like buying what hundreds of other people are buying, makes me feel unoriginal. I like to get out to my errands very early before the world wakes up and starts fighting for parking places - yuck. Often, if I'm shopping for myself, I end up not buying because I always think I don't really need the thing but if I'm shopping for others, I go nuts. I'm also ridiculous.

I like shopping, but sometimes I get lazy to try things on at the store!

I love you! Is that weird? haha
I'm embarrassingly obsessed with the real housewives and I like to shop but get exhausted quickly and can't stand crowds... I'm always of the opinion that I'd rather pay the extra 20bucks for something that feel the pressure of having to run in and find my size etc in the sale section! you can have it!

i personally love shopping but I know other women that hate it for the same reasons as you. I kind of have a spending problem though so I do have buyer's guilt and remorse and all that going on. But you're not ridiculous and you shouldn't feel bad about not liking to shop! Hah!

PS - I'm hosting my first giveaway on my blog, come check it out!

I'm not a huge shopper-I'm a scouter. I hate to browse aimlessly, because I never end up with things I like, but if I know I need, for example, a new tote or black turtleneck sweater, I will hunt down the perfect one online and then find it in a retail store. I think of myself as more of a clothing stalker, really!

not a big shopper myself-especially at a mall! I prefer to thrift with the philosophy that whatever I need will come to me!

I hate to shop so I have one secret that makes me enjoy it a lil bit. I go shopping the days I have a day off during the week because the stores are NOT packed at all because everyone is at work! hehe. I hate going to the malls on the weekend cuz EVERYONE is there. But yeah I'm not lucky either with the size thing. I'm an XL or a L but all that's usually left is the XS & S of things so I'm out of luck.

Good luck this season! Mornings are good too. People are sleeping so it's less packed! =)

1. Absolutely ADORE Real Housewives :)
2. I hate shopping too! I'm usually excited to go, but once I'm there I get frustrated and easily bored, ESPECIALLY when things are fitting right or I can't find what I'm looking for. The upside to this is when I do find something I love I'm ecstatic about it for at least a week ;)
3. I almost ALWAYS get buyers remorse unless I'm absolutely 100% completely in love with it.

Ah, I am not a fan of shopping either! Mostly because for YEARS I've had panic attacks while shopping. Blah. I much prefer shopping online, that way it's like your birthday/Christmas when you get something in the mail, ha!

I'm pretty much a shopaholic and will mow down any other woman that gets in my way. Just sayin'. But even draw the line at holiday/day after Thanksgiving shopping. That stresses me out beyond belief.
