fading into fall

I’m one of those stubborn summer lovers who refuses to believe that the summer ever ends. Even as the cool breezes blow in and the leaves begin to fall from the trees, I’m still holding on to the sunshine with two flip-flopped feet planted firmly on the ground. However, considering it is now officially fall, I think I’m ready to say so long to the summer and embrace all the wonderful things that this time of year brings.
Considering I’m a little late to the party when it comes to welcoming fall, all the things I love about autumn won’t come as a surprise. There is something special about a cool, crisp fall day with the fallen leaves dancing in the wind that makes me want to throw on a warm sweater with my favourite scarf and frolic through the beautiful orange, red and yellow. Follow the frolicking with a large mug of hot tea while I curl up under a soft blanket with a good book and suddenly saying goodbye to summer doesn’t seem like such a bad thing. The thought of warm fireplaces, cute jackets and Thanksgiving turkeys are enough to make me happy that the end of September is here - autumn seems to equal being cozy and that’s really nothing to complain about. As I break out my thick socks and add hot soup back onto my dinner menu, I am easily reminded why there are so many fans of the fall. As much as I will always be sad to see summer go, having four different seasons and being able to celebrate the change between each of them is something I truly look forward to. While I may be sad to pack away my beach towels and sunhats, knowing that blankets and toques will be keeping me cozy for the next few months is enough to keep me comforted on these first few cool days of the season.

What are your favourite fall things? Is fall your favourite season?

I actually love fall...I love the cool breezes, the warm jackets, the pumpkin spice lattes...it's my favorite. Although, I never fully put away my flip flops! My cat, Kitty Paw...she loves the blankets! :) Anyways, just wanted to drop by and thank you for visiting my blog. I'm now following because you look like fun and I'd like to get to know you! Have a great night.

We're certainly on the same page! That's a really lovely picture will all the leaves scattered on the ground like that. My favorite thing about Fall certainly has to be all of the local craft festivals here ... oh, and all things pumpkin flavored! Yum!!

Fall is my very favorite season! I love the smell, the folors, apple cider, football, campfires, jumping in leaves, sweaters, boots, scarves, etc.. I want it to be cool, but not COLD! :)

:) I like it when it's cool enough for me to DRINK tea without breaking out into a sweat (hahah!). And wear all of the scarves that I've been knitting up throughout the year, along with some knitted hats! Today it feels like the middle of the summer though, I heard on the radio it's 37 degrees! AH. So hot. It's so weird because the leaves are falling and blowing all over the place (80km winds!) and then you step outside and it feels like the middle of July.

Being able to slip into cozy needs and snuggling with my beau with the pup sprawled near our feet is my most favorite feeling in the world.

Love from Toronto, Canada

P.S: Thanks for your beautiful comment. I would really love for us to keep in touch. How do you feel about following and/ or doing a link exchange with my blog. I'd happily return the favor.

I absolutely love the feeling of fall. That first day when you step outside and think, wow it feels great! In Tallahassee, I love the point right BEFORE it gets freezing. When I walk outside and I don't immediately feel sweat starting to drip down my face haha :) when it's clear blue skies and a nice cool breeze. I love days like that :)

I'm so with you and not letting go of summer. It's not that I don't like fall, it's the fact that winter soon follows that upsets me.

Fall is officially here for me...I had to break out the long pants today. I love the food of fall -- soup, apple cider donuts, pie! :)

I'm a summer lover too and am usually among the last to give up my flip flops :) I do love fall though, once I've accepted there's no turning back I revel in the golden leaves and crisp breeze! Happy Autumn!

such a beautifully written post. Yea, I am pretty sure fall is my fave. and not just because every other blogger on the planet says so. It was always my favorite as a kid. (Actually, for awhile it was winter but then I came back to my senses.)

Fall is most definitely my favorite season. I love the weather and the colors and the flavors (okay, I do miss my summer berries) and cuddling up in front of a warm fire. Oh, and the rainstorms on the east coast...a good dash of thunder and lightning. And the leaves. The whole world is telling you to get ready for winter, find some good books to read and enjoy this in-between time.

I took my puppy out for a walk tonight. 55 degrees and I wore a tshirt and flip flops. PERFECT. I think fall is Mackenzie's fav season too because she loves chasing after leaves on the ground and putting her face against the wind.
