making it count

Make today count.
It's a line I read a few days ago and I cannot stop thinking about it. Three simple words that are making their mark on my mind. An inspirational saying for making the most of each day, for taking the cards we are dealt and playing the best hand we can. I want to make a difference in the world, I want to be proud of all that I've accomplished and while I'm not quite there yet, if I can make the conscious effort to make the best of each day, to make my mark on a daily basis, then as the weeks and months pass, I'll truly be making this most of all that I set my mind to. Sometimes, the perfect inspiration comes at the perfect time. The past couple weeks I've been struggling through my work days, thinking about my life and, most specifically, my career and trying to figure out which way I am headed. But what about today? What am I going to do to make today a great day, to make each day a great day? When being on the job gets me down, when I feel frustrated or defeated, I have to remember that there is more that I can do to bring myself up. I'm the one who can change the direction I am headed. It's up to me to make the most of my day, to really make it count. And if this is a motto to motivate me everyday, then those bad days are going to be few and far in between. If I can go to sleep each night with the confidence that I made the day count, I can sleep easy knowing that my life is becoming more fulfilling day by day. My big dreams and ambitious adventures won't seem so daunting if each day is a day worth celebrating. So I'm going to make today count. I've made the conscious decision, it's big and bold on a Post-It note staring me in the face, and I'm telling of all of you. Today is going to be a good day. I hope it is for you too!

How do you make each day count? What motivates you on a bad day?

I'm so guilty of needing reminders like this. I've been getting up a little early everyday to spend a few minutes meditating before the boyfriend and little one get up. It helps me to set my intentions for the day.

This really is a good phrase. I like it. I need to start consciously making days count I think...I guess my running is a good start..

It's such a great motto. I try to make every day count. After watching my two best friends succumb to cancer (both in their 30s) over the past two years my mindset completely changed. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. Everything is precious. We now list 5 positive things that happened during the day. Makes you appreciate things more :)

My motivation on a bad day? Music. Party music. Awesome dance music. It can perk me up in an instant.

What a wonderful way to approach every new day. John and I are lucky to be doing things we really like and find fulfilling, and nothing gets us more excited than coming home to tell each other about our successes!

This is so true and something I often find myself neglecting. I guess the things I try to do to make it *count* are little things, like telling my friends how great they look when I see them (a little compliment goes a long way), and snuggling my kitty as soon as I get in the door (she is always SO happy to see me, she deserves at least a few minutes of hugs before I drag all my stuff in).

Great little inspiration and daily mantra:-) I remind myself of that, and also, to not take anything for granted. People, things, etc. I feel like when you can appreciate life, you can really live life! xoxo

I so so SO needed this reminder. I often try and reflect on my days when I drive home from work and find the positives if it's been not so great of a day!

Great post! I've been having trouble going to hell...er work...everyday, too. It's easy to get overwhelmed and lost in what you don't have in a career as opposed to fighting for a new one.

This just inspired me to get on my job search for the day :) Thanks!

P.S. I'm hosting a giveaway - check it out!

Hi sweetheart, I love this! I try to make each day count, each moment, being in the postive of any situation, learning and then letting go of the negativity. Your blog is wonderful! I am happily following you and very exited to keep reading you.

I always find such great reflection question here:) thank you for the reminder to live in the present!
I always have the tendency to look ahead, but we only have the strength for today!
And it would be too easy to miss the blessings right in front of us if we were looking to the future for the answers.
Have a wonderful sunday!

lovely post as always.

always good to remind yourself that while it would be easier to say 'i'll start tomorrow', why not just start working on things now?

i have a terrible habit of focusing on the future and forgetting about right now!

Such a good quote- on a bad day I try and take baby steps to Feng Shui knowing that more good will come out of doing so for myself and my loved ones.
